Nope. Israel was useful to the US when the USSR was the destabilizing presence in the Mideast. Now that nuclear-tipped Israel itself is the destablizing presence there, its value to the US is zilch.

You’re not thinking like the American elite. Israel is a stabilizing influence in a rough neighborhood. They’re like the cop on the beat, trying to keep order among the uncivilized hordes. They’re white people amidst a storm-tossed sea of browns. Etc.

  1. Raw Data Says:

I have heard this assertion — ” Israel is a stabilizing influence in a rough neighborhood. They’re like the cop on the beat, trying to keep order among the uncivilized hordes.” — but it sounds dubious. Can you offer any examples of how Israel stabilizes the Mideast? I am very pro-Israel but I just can’t see the dynamics or any examples. If anything it could be argued just the opposite.

The meme sounds like a canard.
