Medicalization of war, innit? When the Nazis did this stuff, we called it “reprisals.” When our New Age storm troopers do it, we call it “stress.” For Nazis, war crime trials; for the US military, chill pills.
One of the reasons Occupation: Dreamland is such an interesting movie is that you watch people you kind of like do horrible things - not because they’re horrible people but because they’ve been put in a horrible situation by their horrible leaders, to whom they’ve sworn allegiance.
