The people who actually study this stuff point out this: people
don’t like to count. So the diet schemes are ways for them not to
have to count calories. It’s a psychological thing.

That’s not what the magazine editors say. They say that people want
magic substitutes for exercise and diet, and they have to come up
with something new all the time to satisfy the urge for novelty.
