I see that Michael Pugliese — mixing up one of those familiar
indigestable salads of his — reports that Gus Hall denied to me
that the CPUSA got a Soviet subsidy.This certainly comes as a surprise. No doubt Hall would have denied
it, or tried to change the subject, had I asked. But in fact I was
never once in contact with him, and have (as is so often the case)
no idea what Michael could possibly be talking about.
