Russia in Brooklyn
Speaking of vodka and things Russian, this is from the NYT’s attempt
to be hip, “UrbanEye”:
From Russia With Stoli
By MELENA RYZIK Friday, March 16, 2007
Ain’t no party like a Ruskie party. Tonight, skip all the usual club options and head to Coney Island for an all-night, vodka-fueled dance-a-thon at Rasputin, a sort of early-Glasnost Moscow on the East River. You can dine on pelmeni (meat dumplings) and pickled watermelon or caviar and foie gras, but a bottle of Stoli per person is nearly mandatory; you’ll appreciate it when Johnny Vicious and D.J. Pushkin (Tolstoy is so over) start spinning house, and the diva Veronica belts her ballads live. Wear your sharpest suit and your highest heels. Moderation of any kind is not on the menu.10 p.m., Rasputin, 2670 Coney Island Avenue (at Avenue X), Brooklyn, (718) 332-8111; $30. Tickets available at ticketweb.com.
