Some GOP Actvisits Out to Get Giuliani May 29, 2007
It’s no secret that there are some conservatives who want no part of =
a Rudy Giuliani Presidency. The Brody File has been digging around =
and has found a growing network of activists who are starting to take =
pro-active steps to shoot down a Giuliani nomination.
Case in point: Every Wednesday (while Congress is in session), Paul =
Weyrich hosts a midday luncheon at the conservative Free Congress =
Foundation. It=92s an opportunity for conservative grassroots =
organizations and lawmakers to come together and push certain items =
on the agenda. A source inside that meeting tells me that flyers are =
being handed out that say the following:
“If the Republican Party nominates Rudy Giuliani as its candidate for =
either president or vice president, I will personally work to defeat =
the GOP ticket in 2008=85 Rudy Giuliani is wrong on all of the social =
issues, is wrong on the Second Amendment, and is pretty much a blank =
slate on all other issues of importance to conservatives=85If the =
Republican Party nominates him, it is saying to the American people =
that it has lost all purpose except the raw political desire to hold =
power. It will be time to put the GOP out of its misery.”
The flyer is put out by a group called =93ConservativesForPeace.com=94. =
Look, this group isn=92t a Focus on the Family or a Family Research =
Council but it gives you a sense of how some are already plotting to =
destroy Giuliani.
I also received an email from a conservative grassroots leader who =
has a pretty extensive list of conservative contacts. (Close to 400 =
or so) Here are some excerpts from it to give you a sense of what =
he=92s sending out to his grassroots friends:
From the moment Giuliani is nominated — if they are stupid enough =
to do it next February — a third party will be started emphasizing =
pro-family issues and conservative economic and foreign policies, and =
probably within a decade or two that 3rd party will be the dominant =
party along with the pro-abortion and left-wing Democrat Party.
Rudy Giuliani completely missed the point of the question about =
abortion. Asked whether he saw a parallel between the anti-slavery =
and anti-abortion movements, he seemed mystified and said, ‘Well, =
there [are] no circumstances under which I could possibly imagine =
anyone choosing slavery or supporting slavery.’ But just as no one =
would choose to be a slave, no unborn child would choose to be aborted.” What can the Giuliani campaign do to stop this movement? Will the =
conservative grassroots really be able to take him down?

I am a Christian and consider myself to be a social conservative. That said, Rudy will not only win the nomination, he will win the general. He has my full support! Go Rudy Go!
