climate & chaos

We had transit chaos in NYC today after an intense overnight
rainstorm dumped 2 inches of rain in an hour. Subways were flooded;
the official line was that about half the system was shut down; word
on the street is that it was higher. Street traffic was horrendous -
worse than the last transit strike. Subway watchdog Gene Russianoff
says that the Transit Authority is facing more of these intense
storms. You’ve got to wonder if this was a climate change event, and
there’s lots more of this to come.
